Lighting

*I thought about posting this on my photo blog, but who the heck even reads that anyway?*

Want to know a great spot for great light for great pictures?

Your garage.  Assuming you have one.

When the sun isn’t directly shining into it, the garage is like a huge window with beautiful indirect light.

I snapped this picture of Diva while she was sitting on her bike.  You wouldn’t even know there was a bunch of crapola behind her, would you? To make everything fall out of focus behind your subject, you shoot wide open.  My 85mm 1.8(I pine for the 1.2L) was used for this shot, at 1.8.  The trick is to make sure you have good focus.  Shooting wide open can sometimes make pictures “soft” and not sharp.  So use a steady hand, hold your breath and snap away.

And there is your friendly photog tip for the day!

Thanks for the photo tip! Love them. I wish I had a lens lower than 3.5. Maybe someday when I'm rich :)
