Deceptive Mommy

You know those days where your toddler refuses to eat ANYTHING remotely healthy? I think the only thing keeping Diva alive this past week is yogurt and milk. Not exaggerating. Oh yeah and cookies. Trust me, I keep my house stocked with healthy foods but this girl has refused it all.

So on days or in this case...nights like these I whip up my trusty Mommy Shake. (Wow that sounds kind of....weird?) Anyway it never....ever fails. She downs the thing like it's a chocolate milk shake. Here is what I throw in there:

frozen bananas
frozen strawberries
frozen blueberries
spinach (oh yes my friends, spinach is a mommy's best friend...tasteless and insanely healthy)
flaxseed oil
protein powder
milk
plain yogurt
wheat germ

I feel like channeling the evil plan laugh from Friends. muahahahaha. I'm so clever.

I just don't think you could get any healthier than that. Now I won't feel bad that she refused my homemade tortillas with my homemade guacamole! :(

I'm glad my child isn't the only child that can be picky when he wants. Seriously he won't eat anything healthy, but he drinks the V8 fruit fusions 24-7 so I guess he is getting all his fruits and veggies through a drink! I agreed with you on Chels' blog about the car seats. I love our Britax!

I love it!! My kids randomly hate healthy food too. It's so weird. That shake looks awesome though, I might have to try it!! Oh and those tortillas are my favorite thing ever right now! So good.

Smoothies are one of the only ways I can get something besides carbs in Luke. Glad my niece is being fed such healthy fare.

Oh, and aren't those tortillas good? I make them a lot. They can make an ordinary meal, like quesadillas, really good. Last time we just had them with refried beans. I just try not to think about the partially hydrogenated vegetable oil in the shortening. Wish there was an alternative for that.

I love shakes too! I put silken tofu in mine and we have them for dinner. Also, carrots are slightly sweet, so I put those in too! I don't tell my toddler, but I also don't tell my husband! :)

Ummm i need you to send me that guacamole recipe. I've completely forgotten what was in it... Thanks dear sister! And hmm...now I want to try those homemade tortillas too.

I was going to write this exact post, down to the spinach shake thing a few days ago. But now if I do it, it's going to look like I straight up copied, lol. But seriously. Spinach smoothies are the only thing making me feel like my kids are eating healthily right now. They are refusing EVERYTHING. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

Sounds yummy! I will have to try this one. I wish someone would make me a mommy shake....actually I wish someone would make me anything to eat. I have yet to acquire the I love cooking gene. Maybe next year?!

so is the spinach fresh or frozen? I haven't thought to put it in a smoothie. I have a picky eater too--the only fruits and veggies he'll eat (and only on occasion) are: apples, bananas, and carrots.
