Mess

There is a corner in our kitchen that is always, always, always messy.  It is covered in construction paper, tape, crayons, dried up markers, abandoned caps, scissors and bits of dried glue.  And I really, truly try to clean it every day.  But it’s in vain.  It just gets trashed again come morning.

We’ve dubbed it the “Craft Corner.”  My wise mother in-law once said, “I loved it when my kids made messes, it meant they were using their imaginations.”

I have tried to adopt that line of thinking.

Come bedtime we have to literally drag Diva from the craft corner.  I know she’s my child and I am biased but she is insanely creative.  The other day she showed me her guitar.  I loved it.  Purely awesome.  And this comes straight from her brain, no help, no guidelines, no nothin’.  Today she made a bird sitting on a branch, whipped up a nest and several smaller birds.  I don’t know where she comes up with it but I let her have at it.  She can spend hours creating.

Munchkin, on the other hand, uses the scissors to cut up the paper into almost infinitesimal bits and calls it “dinner.”  I can’t even tell you how many of those “dinners” are in my vacuum canister at the moment.

Speaking of Diva, she begged asked to use my camera and snapped these pictures of me a couple days ago…I think she’s got the eye.

She's an artist like her mama. Gorgeous pics. And I seriously hate you for how fast your hair grows.

That guitar totally rocks! Maybe your younger daughter will really fix your family dinner in a few years, who knows? Great pics of you too!
