Delicious peaches and figs not shown.
A friend of mine told me how to find a co-op for locally grown, organic food and I was SO EXCITED.
Every week I pick up a good sized crate of fresh-from-soil (or trees or whatever) produce and I wonder why I ever bought this stuff from a supermarket. Prices on the pictured loot are competitive, dare I say cheaper than the store and they taste worlds better (the loot, not the prices.)
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy frolicking in the farmer's market but this is so much more convenient. Also, going this route I'm given things I never normally would have chosen. Up until last week I had NEVER tasted a fresh fig. Imagine that!

Now, what the heck do I do with an eggplant?

I've heard of this and plan on doing it. I'm having a hard time finding the place closest to me.
Aren't figs delicious! I love them! Oh, and here's what you can do with eggplant. Throw it away :)
i'm filipino. we grill the eggplant and eat it with rice and spicey vinegar. seriously, so good. hahaa. even my husband loves it and he hates eggplants!
yeah.. i wouldn't know what to do with half of that stuff. Pathetic huh? :) I thought fig's tasted like dirt too. I just barely tried one two weeks ago.
That's awesome that you can do this. I've wanted to go to the Farmer's market here for months but every week I either forget about it or its just too hot to walk around. I'll have to meet you there one of these days!
